Morocco has always been one of the most exotic countries for me. The endless desert with its cruel beauty, the dizzying crowds of the Marrakech bazaar, the baths and the sight of the Tuareg on their camels – they enchant me.

As you will see in the short video below, the country offers loads of adventures and can cause incredible surprises. The best things you must do in Morocco are different for everyone who likes the country, here is one version and if you would like to add anything, please feel free to do so in the comment section.

Hiking in the High Atlas

The mighty and grand High Atlas awaits all those who want to escape the crowds of the city. Whether you are an ardent and experienced hiker or you just enjoy nature on the lower parts on the mountains, the High Atlas will charm you. The mountains are only 2 hours away from Marrakech and some of its peaks reach even 4000 meters.

Visit the bazaar of Marrakech

The bazaar of this magical city brings you right back into the world of One Thousand and One Nights. It is most recommended to visit late in the evening when small lanterns light the way among the various shops where you can buy colored rugs, all kinds of exotic spices, sets of chess, tea, amazing oriental figurines and all you want.
You are almost required to negotiate on prices, but keep in mind that you can get lower prices if you say you are either from Eastern Europe or from Africa.

A hamman – steam bath – experience

A hamman, or a traditional steam bath, is an amazing cleansing experience. First they scrub you from head to toe with a kind of black soap until you are cleaner than you have ever been before, then they throw a barrel of water on you to wash it all away. After this you go to the sauna to sweat it out, which is usually followed by a full relaxing massage.
A hamman or steam bath is ‘administered’ in high end hotels or riads in Morocco.

Visiting a filming location

Many wonderful movies were filmed in the country and visiting filming locations are some of the must do things in Morocco. For instance the Gladiator was filmed in the 11th century kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But Lawrence of Arabia, some scenes from Star Wars, The Jewel of the Nile and other epic movies were also filmed in the country.
